The Dorsky laboratory studies the role of the Wnt signaling pathway in CNS neurogenesis. We use zebrafish as a model organism, focusing on how Wnt-dependent neurons function to establish, modify, and restore behavior.

Our current work focuses on Wnt-mediated neurogenesis in the hypothalamus and spinal cord to address three fundamental questions:
1) Can evolutionarily conserved innate behaviors be maintained through different neuronal circuits ?
2) What are the molecular targets of Tcf proteins?
3) How does Wnt/Tcf-dependent neurogenesis contribute to regeneration and behavior?
